Success story · Airports & maintenance

A major French airport operator speeds up the adoption of its HxGN EAM maintenance system.

Replacing the maintenance system affects teams that never stop. K-STUDIO lets them practise on a replica of the application before the switchover; K-NOW takes over in the real tool, at the moment of the task.

Context

Changing the maintenance system on a site that never stops.

This major French airport operator is replacing its computerised maintenance management system with HxGN EAM. On a site like this, maintenance never stops: field technicians, planners and asset managers open neither the same screens nor at the same rhythm.

The blind spot

Training prepares people, it does not stay with them.

A replacement of that size cannot rest on classroom training alone. The teams are not available at the same time, work shifted hours and have to be operational from go-live. They needed to practise before the switchover, then find the right move again directly inside the application.

Initial trainingPeople learn the tool before they really use it.
A few weeks laterThe application is only used now and then.
The step that blocksNo one is around at the moment it matters.
Scope

The application covered by the setup.

The solution

Practise before the switchover, be guided after it.

Two complementary solutions, used at two different moments of the project.

Learning by doing

Simulated exercises on a replica of the maintenance system, with no risk to production data.

Four self-sufficient authors

The project teams have been trained to create and update the content themselves.

Guidance in the tool

After the switchover, K-NOW takes over with contextual help at the moment of the task.

Very different roles

Field work, planning and asset management are each supported on their own screens.

Results

Support that covers both sides of the switchover.

Teams that are ready

Users practise on the new maintenance system before it becomes the production tool.

Help at the moment of the task

After go-live, help sits in the screen rather than in a manual read beforehand.

Content owned in house

Four trained authors keep the content moving at the pace of the project.

A broad scope

The setup covers 1,200 users across every maintenance role.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about this roll-out.

Does K-NOW replace training at this airport operator?
No. Initial training stays in place to prepare people. K-NOW takes over inside the application, at the moment someone gets stuck on a step, sometimes long after the session. The setup stays hybrid.
Which applications are covered?
Live : HxGN EAM→ (Maintenance system, 1,200 users supported).
How large is the roll-out?
1,200 users supported in the maintenance system, 4 authors trained to create content and 2 solutions deployed: K-STUDIO and K-NOW.
What does it change day to day?
Teams that are ready. Users practise on the new maintenance system before it becomes the production tool.
