Windchill training and adoption

Turn a deep PLM into simple actions, from the part to the design review.

Windchill structures the product architecture, bills of materials, changes and configuration management. Its functional depth is its value, and it is also what makes some journeys hard to remember when you only use them a few times a year.

 Our solutions

Windchill adoption for your users.

Deliver help, training and announcements directly inside Windchill, without touching the application.

01

Support job roles, not PLM experts

A designer, a buyer and a manufacturing engineer do not open the same screens and do not use them at the same frequency. A single training course prepares none of the three properly.

02

Make bills of materials and changes reliable

A wrong reference, a missing revision index or an incomplete change request propagates through the whole chain. These are the steps to secure on the screen itself.

03

Take the load off your key users

After go-live, key users absorb the day-to-day questions at the expense of their own work. At Safran Seats, the share of their time spent on support and training came back to 20 %, against 25 %.

Step 1

Preparing for go-live

Each job role replays its own actions — create a part, edit a bill of materials, start a design review — on a replica of Windchill, without touching real data.

Step 2

Contextual help

At the slightest doubt inside the application, the steps to follow appear on the screen where the action happens, with the points of attention specific to your business rules.

Step 3

Measurement & improvement

Real usage is measured screen by screen: which sites drop off, which step blocks, which content should be revised first.

Frequently asked questions

Windchill adoption: your questions.

How do you succeed in a Windchill go-live?
Moving to Windchill changes the daily actions of very different job roles: design, manufacturing engineering, purchasing, quality. The method is to have them practise before the switchover on a simulated replica with K-STUDIO, to certify them before go-live, then to keep the guidance K-NOW running through hypercare— the set-up chosen by Safran Seats on the OnePLM programme.
How do you make bills of materials and change requests reliable?
A PLM is only worth the quality of what is entered in it: revision index, bill of materials, lifecycle state. These rules are recalled directly in the field concerned, at the moment of entry, rather than in an attached procedure. That is what determines the reliability of your product configuration and your changes.
How do you support teams spread across several sites and languages?
Help content is tailored by site, by job role and by language, then delivered inside the application without touching Windchill. Safran Seats covers 10 sites in 5 countries and the 2 working languages of its programme this way.
How do you measure PLM adoption?
K-VALUE measures usage screen by screen: which sites really apply the process, which fields stay empty, which workflow steps are bypassed. Improvements are then prioritised on observed rather than reported usage.
