WalkMe alternatives: which digital adoption platform should you choose in 2026?

WalkMe has been part of the SAP group since September 2024 and is deployed through a worldwide network of integrators. Nine platforms share the rest of the market, with very different project models and data policies. Here is what each one documents.

Why teams look for a WalkMe alternative

Four reasons come up again and again, all verifiable in the vendor’s own documentation.

Ownership
SAP▸WalkMe
Knowmoreno software-vendor shareholder

Vendor independence

WalkMe has been an SAP subsidiary since September 2024, and its partner programme now runs through SAP PartnerEdge. For an organisation that wants an adoption vendor with no software-publisher shareholder, that is a selection criterion.

Project chain
You▸Integrator▸Vendor
You▸Vendor

Who builds your flows

Deployment relies on a worldwide network of consultancies and integrators — Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Infosys. Organisations that expect project managers from the vendor itself, in their own language and time zone, look elsewhere.

European Union data centre
✓ Guidance✗ Insights Console
✗ Session Playback✗ UI Intelligence

The European data centre is partial

WalkMe offers a data centre in the European Union, but its documentation states that not all capabilities are available there: Insights Console, Session Playback, Business Productivity Dashboard and UI Intelligence do not run on it.

Training medium
Replayed screenshotReplica

The nature of the training

Learning Arc replays screenshots in demo, practice and test modes. That is different from a replica of the application in which the user practises before go-live.

At the heart of it

Training on a screenshot, or on a replica?

This is the most concrete difference between the platforms, and the one that shows on go-live day.

×Replayed screenshots
  • Learning Arc replays screenshots in demo, practice and test modes. That is different from a replica of the application in which the user practises before go-live.
✓Replica of the application
  • The user performs the steps himself in a replica of the application, before go-live.
  • The input validation checks what is entered, field by field.
  • The result is reported to the LMS via SCORM: success is measured, not assumed.

The full adoption cycle

Training, guidance and adoption measurement with Knowmore

Go-live is not the end of the adoption project. K-STUDIO, K-NOW and K-VALUE cover the four stages of the loop.

Improve — Feed the findings back into training and guidance, for lasting impact.

Before you sign

Four questions to ask any adoption platform, Knowmore included

Four questions to ask any adoption platform, in the order they come up during a selection process.

On which environment do your users practise before go-live?

Every platform supports the user inside the application. The question to ask is whether a simulation environment exists, separate from production, where mistakes carry no consequence.

Knowmore: Knowmore: K-STUDIO, an immersive application simulation module, usable before and after go-live.

Are you measuring usage, or business process performance?

Most platforms measure clicks, flows and completion rates. Few connect those behaviours to business indicators: processing time, input error rate, ticket volume.

Knowmore: Knowmore: K-VALUE connects observed usage to the process performance indicators you have defined.

What happens to your guidance when the application interface changes?

This is the hidden cost line of every adoption project. Ask which technical criteria elements are targeted on, and what actually happens after an ERP version upgrade.

Knowmore: Knowmore: combined targeting — DOM structure, attributes, relative position and contextual conditions — designed to survive interface changes.

Who actually supports you, and for how long?

Vendor teams or partner network? Based where? For how long after go-live? Have the profiles named in the commercial proposal, not just in the pitch.

Knowmore: Knowmore: in-house project managers, based in France, committed from design through to continuous improvement.

Frequently asked questions

WalkMe alternatives: your questions

What is the best WalkMe alternative?

There is no best alternative in the abstract: the ranking depends on what you are replacing. If the issue is team autonomy and speed of authoring, Lemon Learning and UserGuiding answer it. If it is product analytics, Pendo. If it is measuring usage across the whole estate, Userlane.

If the issue is a critical business process that spans several applications, with training before go-live and data hosted in France, that is Knowmore’s ground.
Why look for a WalkMe alternative?

Three reasons come up in the public documentation: WalkMe has been an SAP subsidiary since September 2024; deployment runs through a worldwide network of integrators; and the European data centre does not offer every capability of the platform — Insights Console, Session Playback, Business Productivity Dashboard and UI Intelligence are not available on it.

None of these three characteristics is a flaw in itself. They are selection criteria: they matter to some organisations and not to others.
Is there a European alternative to WalkMe?

Yes. Two independent French vendors appear in this comparison: Knowmore, founded in 2001, and Lemon Learning, founded in 2014. Both are ISO 27001 certified and host data in the European Union.

The difference lies in the project model: Lemon Learning emphasises client-team autonomy with a no-code editor; Knowmore commits in-house project managers, from design through to continuous improvement.
Is WalkMe owned by SAP?

Yes. SAP completed the acquisition of WalkMe on 12 September 2024, at $14 per share. WalkMe’s partner programme has run through SAP PartnerEdge ever since.

For an organisation that wants an adoption vendor with no software-publisher shareholder, that is a point to settle at the scoping stage.
Which WalkMe alternatives let you train users before go-live?

Four platforms document a training environment: Knowmore with K-STUDIO, Whatfix with Mirror, Lemon Learning with its interactive simulations, and Oracle Guided Learning with its Interactive Tips. Userlane, Pendo and UserGuiding offer none; Apty trains in production, by stated choice.

The approaches differ: Whatfix and Lemon Learning replicate the application, WalkMe replays screenshots. K-STUDIO adds control of the user’s actions during the exercise and reports scores back to the organisation’s LMS.
Do WalkMe alternatives host data in Europe?

Not all of them, and rarely by default. Userlane hosts in Europe by default, as does Lemon Learning. Whatfix and Pendo offer Europe as an option. UserGuiding reserves the European server for its higher tiers, and switching wipes analytics data. Apty and Oracle Guided Learning do not publish their regions.
