Context
The British recruitment company Reed undertook an overhaul of its internal processes to improve the efficiency of its sales teams through a well-orchestrated digital adoption programme. The objective was to optimise the use of its new cloud CRM and other digital tools, in order to make employees more productive and more autonomous.
The problem before digital adoption
Before this digital transformation, Reed faced several challenges:
- Long, expensive training for new employees, with a slow learning curve.
- A rise in internal support tickets, caused by inefficient use of the CRM by the sales teams.
- A drop in efficiency linked to complex manual processes and employees' lack of command of the tools.
The digital adoption solution
Reed put in place a digital adoption solution based on interactive training and real-time guidance, using a Digital Adoption Platform (DAP). The main actions were:
- In-app interactive guides: Reed's employees benefited from interactive guides embedded directly in their CRM and other software, which allowed them to navigate the new systems with step-by-step assistance.
- Personalised, segmented training: the approach included training paths based on user roles (recruiters versus managers, for example), ensuring that each employee received training relevant to their specific responsibilities.
- Self-service and fewer support tickets: employees could access self-service resources directly from the tools' user interface. This reduced dependence on IT support and made it possible to resolve common issues quickly.
The results
- Shorter onboarding times: digital adoption significantly reduced the time needed for new employees to become fully operational, cutting weeks from the onboarding process.
- Improved efficiency: thanks to interactive guides and contextual assistance, Reed's sales teams gained autonomy, which improved overall productivity.
- Lower support costs: the number of internal support tickets fell considerably, because employees were better trained and had the tools they needed to solve their own problems.
- Higher employee satisfaction: by making the new tools easier to adopt, employees felt more comfortable in their daily tasks, which contributed to better satisfaction and talent retention.
The Reed case shows that digital adoption, when it is well planned and supported by technologies such as digital adoption platforms, not only increases team efficiency but also reduces support and training costs. Successful internal adoption relies on continuous support for employees, adapted to their specific needs, and on intuitive tools that guide them through their digital journey.
